AND GLASGOW EATING AND DRINKING GUIDE 1999 |
A
Room in the Town
At a Room in the Town, food fights and dancing on the tables my not be
obligatory - but they're certainly far from frowned upon. It's a cheery,
hearty place decorated in bright yellow and dark wood with a bold mural
of revelling Scots painted along one wall.
Bring
a bottle, settle down to the sounds of the Waterboys or the Proclaimers
and enjoy a small feast that's of much higher quality than the laid-back
atmosphere might suggest.
The
food is emphatically Scottish, with a robust dish of rolled loin of
beef and venison with haggis, red onion and orange gravy (10.75) proving
particularly popular with those who have the stamina for it; more subtle
dishes such as citrus marinated salmon with barley and leek stew (10.95)
are equally gratifying.
Filling
a niche as the ideal place to bring a lively group who enjoy good food.
A Room in the Town has quickly established itself as part of the vigorous
social life of Stockbridge.
